Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Marquee ("Marquee," "we," "us," or "our") is a Shopify application operated by GKNS Holdings Inc. dba Coasts, a company organized in California, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By installing or using Marquee, you agree to this Policy.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to the Marquee application, the website at trymarquee.app, and related services (together, the "Service"). Marquee is a business-to-business tool used by merchants on the Shopify platform. We do not knowingly direct the Service to consumers or to children.

3. Information we collect

From the Shopify platform, when a merchant installs Marquee: Shop information (store domain, store name, currency, timezone, primary business location); Order information (order amounts, subtotals, taxes, discounts, currency, line-item counts, order timestamps, and a flag indicating whether an order is from a new or returning customer); Limited shipping information (the country, province or state, and city associated with an order, used only to place orders on a geographic map at the country and region level — Marquee does not collect or store customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, or payment details); a numeric customer identifier supplied by Shopify, used only to distinguish new from returning customers in aggregate counts.

From the merchant directly: Account and configuration data — display names, dashboard settings, sales-goal configurations, celebration preferences, and a business "headquarters" latitude and longitude that the merchant chooses to enter.

Automatically: Technical and usage data — IP address, browser and device type, and request logs, collected to operate, secure, and rate-limit the Service. If enabled, analytics data collected through the providers listed in Section 6.

4. How we use information

We use the information we collect to: provide the core Service (calculating and displaying real-time sales metrics, goals, and visualizations on the merchant's dashboards); operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service, including troubleshooting and rate-limiting; communicate with the merchant about the Service, including support and important notices; comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service. We do not sell personal information. We do not use order or customer data for advertising. We do not share data with third parties except the service providers described in Section 6 or as required by law.

5. Legal bases (for merchants in the EEA/UK)

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process data to perform our contract with the merchant, to pursue our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, and to comply with legal obligations.

6. Service providers (subprocessors)

We rely on the following third parties to operate the Service. Each processes data only as needed to provide its function: Shopify (the platform from which order and shop data originates); Supabase (database hosting and storage); Vercel (application hosting and delivery); Inngest (background job processing); Upstash (request rate-limiting); Sentry (error monitoring and diagnostics); Resend (transactional email delivery); PostHog and Google Analytics (product and website analytics). This list may change as the Service evolves; we will keep this Policy current. Some providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States.

7. Data retention

We retain merchant and order-derived data only while Marquee is installed on the merchant's store. When a merchant uninstalls Marquee, we delete the associated data in response to Shopify's mandatory store-redaction process, ordinarily within the timeframe Shopify requires. Backups containing data are encrypted and cycle out on a rolling basis. We may retain limited records where required by law.

8. Security

We protect data using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, encrypted backups, separation of test and production environments, access logging, and access controls limiting personal data to authorized personnel for support and maintenance only. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Data subject and privacy rights

Depending on where you are located, you or the customers of a merchant may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information, or to object to its processing. Because Marquee processes order data on behalf of merchants, requests from a store's customers should be directed to the merchant, who acts as the controller of that data. Shopify's data-request and redaction webhooks allow merchants to forward such requests to us, and we honor them. You may also contact us directly using the details in Section 12.

10. Cookies and analytics

The Marquee website and admin interface may use cookies and similar technologies, including through PostHog and Google Analytics, to understand usage and improve the Service. Public display URLs are designed to operate without advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some features.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
